Based in Égliseneuve-près-Billom, in the heart of Auvergne, Domaine Les Vins Vrais by Éric Durif was born from the passionate reconversion of a former butcher who chose to cultivate vines instead of meat. On small south-west-facing parcels of volcanic and clay-limestone soils, he crafts natural wines using manual harvesting, indigenous yeasts, no additives, and zero winemaking artifice. The flagship grape, Gamay d’Auvergne, thrives on the slopes of Mas d’Hauteyras and Saint-Georges-sur-Allier, producing joyful, precise, and mineral wines. He also experiments with whites and blends including Viognier, Sauvignon, and other creative fermentations. A humble yet ambitious project, rooted in living soils, where land, grape, and man unite to create wines that are free, sincere, and vibrant.
