After several years working in wine marketing Édouard Lepesme decided to study at the Beaune viticultural school before gaining valuable experience alongside renowned winemakers such as Alice and Olivier de Moor and Claire Naudin and in 2014 he took over thirteen hectares of vines in the Côtes d’Auxerre convinced of the potential of this still discreet terroir from the very beginning he turned the estate towards organic farming quickly achieving certification with the aim of highlighting the character of Pinot Noir Chardonnay Aligoté Gamay and César which here give birth to delicate fruity wines of remarkable consistency the vineyards now cover fourteen and a half hectares divided equally between red and white varieties planted on two distinct hillsides whose soils shape the style of the wines to the north Jurassic and Cretaceous soils bring tension and minerality while to the south limestone terroirs facing east reveal purity and finesse enhanced by the morning light with an annual production of around fifty thousand bottles the Domaine d’Édouard reflects the talent and constancy of a passionate winemaker each cuvée expressing the richness of the Côtes d’Auxerre along with a constant respect for nature and a pursuit of excellence.
