Syrah Viola 2023

Jean-François Malsert, known as Jeff, founded Domaine de l’Iserand in 2011 on the heights of Saint-Joseph. After a career in hospitality and travels through New Zealand and Australia, he returned to Ardèche to revive his grandfather’s vineyards in Sécheras. Spread over 4 hectares and cultivated organically using traditional methods, he grows Syrah and Marsanne on granite and mica-schist soils. Natural winemaking takes center stage, with whole-cluster fermentation for reds and direct pressing for whites. Aging in amphorae or demi-muids preserves fruit purity and highlights fresh, airy, and mineral wines. His patinated Saint-Joseph reds and taut whites delight wine lovers, earning praise from none other than Hervé Souhaut! A winemaker worth discovering!
