Born in Arcachon, Catherine Dumora grew up between the Bassin d'Arcachon and Bordeaux before studying anthropology, focusing on environmental protection and the living conditions of indigenous populations in Brazil and Morocco. Her discovery of natural wine in Auvergne in 2012 was a turning point: meeting winemakers like Bouju, Beauger, and Renard inspired her to make wine. Deeply connected to small-scale farming and traditional agriculture, she started her own venture in 2013 and took over her estate alone in 2019. Located on the foothills of the Livradois-Forez, she now cultivates 3 hectares of vines surrounded by meadows and forests, on granite soils rich in quartz and amethyst. Her vineyard includes Gamay, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Alicante, as well as Riesling and resistant hybrid varieties. Without a tractor or chemical treatments, Catherine Dumora embraces a minimalist approach, favoring horse-drawn plowing and biodiversity. Her vines, planted on a west-facing slope, benefit from a cool climate, swept by westerly winds reminiscent of the Atlantic breeze. She practices a patient and committed form of viticulture, seeking to understand the deep interactions between plants and their environment. In the cellar, she vinifies in sandstone jars with long aging periods, allowing intuition and the vibrancy of nature to guide the process. Her work is based on listening to the grapes and the terroir, with no additives or unnecessary interventions. Her wines are a pure expression of the land, shaped by a profound connection to natural cycles and an awareness of the invisible forces that bring nature to life
