Jean-Marie Berrux - Le Petit Têtu

Based in Meursault, at the heart of the Côte de Beaune, Jean-Marie Berrux embodies a new generation of winemakers for whom wine is first and foremost a personal commitment. Originally from Savoie, he worked in advertising and audiovisual production before studying viticulture and oenology in Beaune and launching his estate, Le Petit Têtu, in the early 2000s. For more than fifteen years, he has been farming his 1.5 hectares near Puligny under biodynamics, with a strong focus on soil vitality and natural balance. Vinification is carried out with native yeasts, no additives, little to no sulfur, and—above all—time. His cellar, dug beneath his house in Meursault, allows for long élevage in oak barrels before bottling in the family courtyard. His wines, particularly Le Petit Têtu, deliver a pure, vibrant expression of Chardonnay: taut, saline, precise, and gaining in complexity with age. Produced in very small volumes and with meticulous attention to detail, they have often astonished in blind tastings, especially older vintages. Far from being “simple” Bourgogne Chardonnay, they stand as some of the most authentic and compelling expressions of natural Burgundy today.
