At 22, Charles Boigelot represents the new generation at Domaine Éric Boigelot in Meursault. Rooted in family tradition, he forges his own path, bringing fresh energy to his wines. His journey began in 2022 with a single red cuvée, expanded to three wines in 2023. Éric Boigelot is known for his mineral whites and balanced reds, now fully de-stemmed. Charles, however, embraces whole-cluster fermentation, crafting sharper whites and a vibrant Monthélie red. Interestingly, Éric himself once favored whole-cluster reds before shifting his style. Despite their differences, father and son work closely together. Charles trained at top domaines, spending two years at Coche-Dury, then at Vincent Girardin and Paul Pillot. This background shapes his precise, low-intervention approach. He harvests by hand, vinifies reds with 50% to 100% whole clusters, avoids sulfur during maceration, and extracts gently to preserve fruit purity. His Monthélie Les Plantes, produced since 2022, undergoes long, light pressing and 15 months of aging without new oak to highlight the terroir. With his bold vision and refined technique, Charles Boigelot is a name to follow in Burgundy.
